It’s been a while since I hit the blog up but I wanted to touch base on Derrick Rose getting  injured over the weekend!  Considering I was born and raised in Chicago, I have always been a Bulls fan!!  Watching Derrick Rose go down this past Saturday with barely any time on the clock was extremely hard for any Chicago fan to watch.  Key players getting injured for our teams has seemed to be a common theme this year: Jay Cutler (Bears), Marian Hossa (Blackhawks).

Enough of me venting about how Chicago teams cannot stay healthy…There have been rumors in every Chicago paper about Derrick Rose doing steroids, him not being in the right physical shape, etc…

Obviously the media needs to make their money too, so they just come up with nonsense stories.  From watching the video of Derrick tearing his ACL when he drove to the hoop, it doesn’t look like there was much movement with his knee.  In other words, his leg didn’t look like Willis Magahees’ (Miami Hurricanes) did after tearing everything known to man in his knee!

 What Caused Rose To Miss So Many Games?(Eventually Tearing his ACL)

Derrick is about as true of a “Slasher” there is.  For those of you who don’t know, a slasher is a player that can literally get to the hoop and create shots almost at will.  Because he can do that, this means he is driving the ball at 260-280 big men all game, OVER and OVER again!!  If you ever pay attention at how many times Derrick gets knocked down regardless of if he’s fouled or not, it’s INSANE!

Now, I know I mention Lebron James’ name in the title, and it’s for good reason.  NO, I do not like him more than Rose…that would be idiotic!  But it’s because Lebron is also a slasher, but you don’t see him missing so many games.  What does Lebron do differently than Rose?  Nothing!

So why doesn’t Lebron get hurt as much? Hmmm…Let’s see, he’s 6’9 280 lbs!!  He can go to the hoop and not get pushed around because of his size!  Derrick may be quicker than him, and pull off more acrobatic finishes, but Lebron is like a freight train coming through the lane.  It’s very rare to see him getting pushed around when he drives to the hoop because of his size and strength.

Think about this…Lebron is 6 inches taller, and 90 lbs heavier!!  That is ridiculous!  I’m not going to sit here and hate on Rose, because he is one of my favorite athletes in all of sports…but from a strength and conditioning stand point, odds are not in his favor when he’s 6’3 190 lbs driving at guys 40%-%50 bigger than him.

To all my Chicago fans, I’m sorry to have to bring it back up to you, but for the sake of my sanity I had to vent about the topic!
