For the past week or so we have been explaining to you exactly what you need to do to become a better Basketball player. For those of you who don’t know what you need to do, please listen up…
So, what is a Slasher, and how can you become one?
When it comes to slashers, think Derrick Rose, Chris Paul, Kobe Bryant, etc…These are guys that get the ball and become a threat from anywhere on the court. It takes more than just working on your jump shot, and your dribbling. You need to put the work in the gym wayyyy before any of that if you really want to take your game to the next level!
What are some things you should focus on to become a slasher?
- You need to have a killer first step that leaves defenders in the dust!
- You need to be able to jump off one and two legs efficiently!
- You need speed!
- And you need to be able to decelerate to make defenders miss!
Basketball is becoming more and more competitive. There are guards that are 6’7-6’9 now!! That is absolutely insane! If you want to keep up with these guys you need to outwork them in the gym! If you are a 6’9 guard then please send us your highlights because you my friend, are dominating!

Hey Coach Cascio. My name is Omari Wilson and I am 16 and I need your help on two things. 1# to gain muscle. I am 6’3 and probable 159-162. I am really fit but I need to put on some more muscle weight. 2# I just started basketball like last year and I am really good already I had scouts come to look at me already but I need like just 3in more just to dunk. When I am playing in a game, I can jump and dunk off of an alley oop. My head goes inside the net but as soon as I have to jump with the ball I wont make it. So I really need your help on this one. Thanks
If I do the vertical jump prescription can I still work on your other exercises and get the same results.
